Multinationals want Ireland to expand tax breaks for research and development in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to help offset US tariffs and the new 15% global minimum tax.
The Irish government proposed to increase its R&D tax credit to 35% from 30% on qualifying expenditures, but some global companies engaged in digitalization and decarbonization say that’s insufficient, arguing they wouldn’t be able to claim credit for their efficiency improvements.
