Mexican authorities arrested a cartel leader and seized seven tigers in the latest raid tied to a fuel-theft scandal that roused the nation.
Authorities arrested Jose Antonio “N” in Nuevo León state for his alleged involvement in the case, according to a statement from Mexico’s security ministry released on Monday. He is accused of leading a group with ties to the Cartel del Noreste, which has a strong presence in Tamaulipas state, where the tax-evasion scheme was discovered. The cartel has been labeled by the US as a foreign terrorist organization.
