Kenya Increases Levy on Cooking Gas More Than 13 Times (1)

Kenya has increased a petroleum development levy on cooking gas by more than 13 times, according to a legal notice in the government gazette.

Consumers will now pay a levy of 5.40 shillings per kilogram of liquefied petroleum gas, up from 0.40 shillings they paid in the past five years, according to the order signed by Energy Secretary Opiyo Wandayi. Similar levies on gasoline, diesel and jet fuel remain unchanged at 5.40 shillings.
