Idaho Gold Mine Expansion Challenged by Environmental Groups

Environmental groups sued the federal government Tuesday seeking to block a Perpetua Resources Corp. mine expansion project that will largely occur on public lands in Idaho.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service and National Marine Fisheries Service issued biological opinions allowing, and the US Forest Service issued a record of decision greenlighting the 3,266-acre Stibnite Gold Project, even though it will cause “massive habitat degradation and pollution,” the Center for Biological Diversity, Idaho Conservation League, and others said in a complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of Idaho.
