Health Groups Warn Tax Law May Crimp Care For Elderly, Disabled

Republicans contend they did not target older Americans and people with disabilities as a means to pay for their tax cuts and spending package, but advocates and trade groups warn the law’s $1-trillion cut to Medicaid could do just that.

“You can’t cut $1 trillion, or close to $1 trillion in Medicaid budgets, state Medicaid budgets, without it affecting all Medicaid recipients,” said Sam Brooks, director of public policy at the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care.
