It’s crunch time for the Republicans seeking to use a controversial scoring method for a tax package.

Senate Finance Committee Chair Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) has been building support for using the “current policy baseline.” That would allow an extension of expiring provisions in the GOP’s 2017 tax law to be estimated as having no cost, rather than costing trillions of dollars over a decade using the more traditional scoring method.
