Gabon has suspended import duties and value added tax on some basic necessities for a period of six months to address high costs of living, the finance ministry said in a statement
- The suspension applies to meat, poultry, fish, dairy products, canned goods, rice, pasta, oils, and sugar, as well as materials such as concrete reinforcing bars, cement, gravel and sand
- Charges on some digital payments were also suspended
