French Unions Plan More Strikes Saying No Clarity on Budget Plan

France’s labor unions called for a new round of anti-austerity protests on Oct. 2, saying Prime Minster Sebastien Lecornu didn’t offer clarity on concessions he’s willing to make in a new budget.

“It’s a missed opportunity,” the leader of the moderate CFDT union, Marylise Leon, said. “It doesn’t add up.”

Lecornu was appointed earlier this month after the National Assembly voted to force the resignation of his predecessor, Francois Bayrou, over plans for a sharp reduction in the budget deficit.
