French Budget Amendment Hikes Corporate Tax in Compromise Bid

France’s National Assembly adopted an amendment on Monday that would increase taxes on the country’s largest companies next year, part of the government’s effort to rein in the deficit and find compromises with opposition lawmakers.

The finance ministry had initially targeted €4 billion ($4.7 billion) in extra revenue in 2026 from partially extending this year’s temporary increase in corporate tax rates on the biggest firms.
