France’s Lecornu Says Budget Still Viable After Tax-Plan Rebuff

French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said he still sees a path for parliament to approve a budget after the National Assembly voted against the tax chapter of the bill in the first reading.

Lawmakers’ rejection of the revenue part of the budget in the early hours of Saturday morning means the original bill advances to the Senate without amendments designed to foster compromise. But changes can still be made when the plans return to the lower house in December.
