EU to Set Aside Energy, Corporate Tax Bills Until Late Next Year

The EU will continue negotiations over a proposed hike on tobacco taxes and an overhaul of the bloc’s customs rules next year, but will set aside talks on the controversial corporate and energy tax reform bills.

Cyprus, which will hold the European Union’s rotating presidency and is responsible for shepherding bills through the EU’s legislative process, won’t schedule any meetings on the corporate and energy bills in the near future, according to people familiar with the matter.

EU countries are still far apart on both those bills.
