EU Simplification Will Help Multinationals, Tax Official Says

The European Commission’s coming tax simplification package will reduce the administrative burdens on companies that have signed up to the global minimum tax deal, a top official said Thursday.

The global minimum tax, known as Pillar Two, provides “a sufficient level of confidence” that it can prevent aggressive corporate tax practices, Benjamin Angel, director of direct taxation for the European Commission, told a panel at the 2026 CFE Forum.

But the bloc doesn’t plan its own simplification or changes to the commission’s global minimum tax directive, he added.
