The EU Commission Wednesday delivered warnings to Greece and Germany for failing to comply with European Union tax rules.
The commission, the EU’s executive, said Germany infringed EU value-added tax rules by applying overly strict conditions before private tutors can obtain a VAT exemption allowed for their activities.
Germany requires those wishing to benefit from the exemption to obtain certificates from their state authority, making it hard in practice for freelance tutors to obtain the exemption.
