Belgium Cabinet Approves Draft Bill on Various Financial Provisions to Combat Tax Fraud

The Belgian Council of Ministers Jan. 21 approved a draft bill on various financial provisions to combat tax fraud. The draft bill includes measures to: 1) increase the income tax exemption to 700 euros (US$792) from 350 euros (US$396) for workers receiving specific regional training bonuses; 2) provide an additional tax reduction for unemployment benefits for tax year 2023; 3) establish a legal administrative framework to combat tax evasion; and 4) require businesses to provide an electronic payment option to consumers.
