Baltics Align Fuel Tax Cuts After Energy Costs Surge: Latvian FM

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are coordinating cuts to excise taxes on fuel after energy costs surged due to conflict in the Middle East, the Latvian Finance Ministry said in a statement.

  • Latvia’s government is considering a 15% cut to excise taxes on retail sales of diesel fuel for April 1 to June 30.
  • Without the cuts the higher fuel prices will cost about €50 million ($58 million) more a month for the Latvian economy
