Arkansas Governor Signs Law Amending Definition of Homestead for Property Tax Exemption

The Arkansas Governor signed a law amending the definition of “homestead” for property tax exemptions for disabled veterans, surviving spouses, and minor children. The new definition includes up to 160 acres of contiguous property if not used for commercial purposes. The new law will take effect for assessment years beginning on or after January 1, 2025.
