Warren Pushes RFK Jr. to Reveal Details on Negotiated Drug Deals

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is pushing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to provide Congress with copies of negotiated deals the Trump administration made with drug manufacturers and to make information on generic versions of drugs available on TrumpRx.

Warren questioned the Health and Human Services secretary in a Senate Finance Committee hearing last week on prices offered by TrumpRx, where patients are supposed to find discounts on prescription drugs. The Massachusetts senator noted there are generic versions of some drugs that are significantly cheaper than what is offered on the administration’s website.

She asks in a Tuesday letter why the website was launched without indications that cheaper generics are available and whether the pharmaceutical companies requested that website omit the information as part of deals it struck.

“TrumpRx is acting as a conduit for Big Pharma to steer consumers to expensive brand name drugs when cheaper generics are available,” she wrote.

Warren also cast doubt on Kennedy’s claims during the hearing that millions of people are using TrumpRx and asked for clarity in her letter. “It is not clear where this estimate came from, or whether it indicates that millions of people have actually used the site to purchase prescription drugs, including medications for which cheaper generics are available,” she said in the letter.

The senator asked for responses to her questions by May 28.
