  • Walk advanced out of Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs in an 8-1 vote
  • Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) voted no by proxy for six Democrats not present, whose votes were counted only for the record
  • Walk faced questions about his political independence and food stamp fraud during a Wednesday confirmation hearing
  • The nominee now awaits a full Senate vote, which has not been scheduled
