US Reviews Relationship With Tanzania After Deadly Crackdown (1)

The US is “comprehensively reviewing” its relationship with Tanzania over concerns about a crackdown on religious freedom and free speech in the East African country.

Recent actions by the Tanzanian government have raised “grave concerns” about its reliability as a partner, the State Department in Washington said in a statement on Thursday. Future ties will depend on the conduct of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s administration, it said.
