US Official Leading Golden Dome Raises Price by $10 Billion (1)

The US military official leading the effort to build the Golden Dome missile-defense shield put a $185 billion price tag on the first stage of the project, a $10 billion cost increase that highlights the project’s massive — and imprecise — ambitions.

“We were asked to procure some additional space capabilities, so we are at $185 billion for the objective architecture,” Space Force General Michael Guetlein said at a conference in Washington on Tuesday.

President Donald Trump had earlier put the cost of the project at $175 billion, though independent analysts suggest the total could be many times higher.
