The Pentagon is without a permanent chief financial officer to manage a nearly $1 trillion defense budget, after President Donald Trump’s pick was sidelined by his background check.
Trump nominated former General Electric chief financial officer Jeffrey Bornstein in May, but informed the Senate this week that his nomination has been withdrawn. The Senate Armed Services Committee never held a confirmation hearing.
