Trump NTSB Pick Gets Senate Hearing as Democrat Fights Firing

A Senate committee will hold a Nov. 6 confirmation hearing on a Republican to join the National Transportation Safety Board, as litigation continues over President Donald Trump’s May firing of Democratic board Vice Chair Alvin Brown.

Considering John DeLeeuw’s nomination next week would undermine the investigation of his removal and the bipartisanship of the committee, 10 Democrats on the Commerce Committee said in an Oct. 29 letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) and panel Chair Ted Cruz (R-Texas).
