Texas’ March Primaries Set After Redistricting, Candidate Filing

The Texas delegation in the next Congress will look a lot different.

The candidate fields are set for the 2026 primaries in Texas, where Republicans are eying five new House seats after mid-decade redistricting and are defending a Senate seat where both parties now have competitive primaries.

The elections are the first to be held under a new congressional map Texas Republican legislators enacted this summer at President Donald Trump’s behest. The US Supreme Court Dec. 4 allowed the new lines to go into effect and blocked a federal court’s ruling last month that said the map was racially gerrymandered. ...
