Dems Reject Clean Stopgap for Health Deal
The chances of a shutdown on Oct. 1 are rising, as Democrats push for health-care concessions from Republicans in order to agree to a stopgap measure.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) told reporters yesterday Democrats don’t want a straightforward continuing resolution that would continue President Donald Trump’s policies. Schumer said Democrats want health-care provisions, putting a spotlight on Affordable Care Act subsidies that are set to expire at the end of the calendar year.
