As Washington remains gridlocked and the Hill empties for another weekend, an odd trend has emerged: The Senate’s already cast more votes in 2025 than in any year in nearly half a century, while the House is on pace for its second fewest vote total in decades.
The upper chamber has held more than 580 roll call votes this year, more than any previous Senate through October in the last 48 years, according to a Bloomberg Government analysis. Meanwhile, the House has held 282 roll call votes, fewer than in any non-pandemic year since 1991.
