Senate to Hold Dueling Stopgap Votes
The shutdown fight will come to a head today when the Senate votes on Democrats’ and Republicans’ dueling stopgaps as the government funding deadline draws near.
Barring major defections, each measure appears destined to fall short of 60 votes, continuing the impasse over funding. Democrats are adamant they won’t support Republicans’ stopgap proposal through Nov. 21 without changes to health-care provisions, instead pushing for their own stopgap replete with health-care policy changes and measures to block rescission proposals,
