Scott Reverses Pledge and Will Seek Another Senate Term in 2028

Sen. Tim Scott, the South Carolina Republican who leads the Banking Committee and his party’s campaign to defend its majority in the chamber, will seek reelection in 2028, reversing a pledge to serve two full terms.

“The more I travel the state, the more I travel the country, the more I realize the important role that we play in the majority,” Scott, the National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair and the Senate’s only Black Republican, told The Post and Courier newspaper Wednesday.
