Lawmakers are accelerating efforts to restrict China’s access to powerful US artificial intelligence chips as the top two economies compete for global dominance of the transformative technology.
A bipartisan group of senators Thursday introduced a resolution that seeks to affirm American leadership in AI as a national imperative and support US export controls on AI chips to China. It also calls on the US to make certain the most powerful AI models are built domestically and to ensure American companies are prioritized for cutting-edge technologies over foreign adversaries, including China.
