Platner Wins Maine Senate Primary After String of Scandals (2)

Progressive Democrat Graham Platner won the party’s Senate primary in Maine after a bruising campaign which became as much about accusations of his past misbehavior as it was voters’ top concerns.

Preliminary results show Platner, a 41-year-old oyster farmer and military veteran, had about 72% support. Maine Governor Janet Mills, who suspended her campaign in April amid lackluster polling and fundraising but remained on the ballot, had just shy of 20%. David Costello, who previously held government roles in Maine and Maryland, received about 8%.
