California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Wednesday he will not extradite a doctor charged in Louisiana with providing abortion pills to a woman in the state.
“We will not allow extremist politicians from other states to reach into California and try to punish doctors based on allegations that they provided reproductive health care services. Not today. Not ever,” Newsom (D) said in a statement.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill (R) released an indictment on Tuesday accusing Rémy Coeytaux of mailing abortion medication to a woman there after she found she was pregnant in 2023.
