New House Caucus Spotlights Affordability, Rising Energy Costs

Rising energy costs across the country have prompted the creation of a new congressional caucus focused on lowering Americans’ utility bills.

Several House Democrats Thursday launched the Congressional Lowering Utility Bills Caucus to work on legislative solutions for the spike in electricity expenses over the past year. Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), Ami Bera (Calif.), Maggie Goodlander (N.H.), Chris Pappas (N.H.), Josh Riley (N.Y.), and Pat Ryan (N.Y.) are among the lawmakers expected to speak at a Capitol Hill press conference.

Democrats have made affordability on pocketbook issues like energy a key focus in their congressional election-year messaging.
