Manchin Warns Senate on Dangerous Path With Nominations Fights

Former Sen. Joe Manchin said he’s been warning his one-time colleagues on both sides of the aisle about a “whittling away” of minority power in the Senate.

“It’s dangerous what they’re doing, picking away at the minority having input,” said Manchin, a West Virginia Independent and former Democrat, in an interview while traveling from New York to Washington by train Tuesday as he promotes his new book “Dead Center: In Defense of Common Sense.”

Republicans recently changed Senate rules to speed up consideration of many presidential nominees, in response to Democrats holding up votes on President Donald Trump picks.
