Trump Bid to Ban DEI for Federal Fund Recipients Sees Pushback

Higher education trade groups are pushing back on the Trump administration’s latest move to target diversity, equity, and inclusion among colleges and universities.

A proposal by the General Services Administration would require all federal funding recipients, including higher education institutions, to certify that they don’t have “illegal” DEI programs or practices to maintain access.

The American Council on Education, Association of Public and Land-grant Universities, and Council for Christian Colleges & Universities are among almost two dozen organizations that say the proposal “would create significant uncertainty and insecurity for colleges and universities and their efforts to comply with federal law,” ...
