Iran Briefly Closes Its Airspace as Tension With US Simmer (1)

Iran temporarily closed its airspace around Tehran for several hours amid rising tensions with the US and nationwide protests in the country, as geopolitical dislocations risk disrupting main flight paths.

The so-called Notice to Air Missions was in place for more than four hours and flights were back in the air after 7 a.m. local time Thursday. The notice only allowed exemptions for international flights arriving and planes departing from the country’s capital with prior permission from Iran’s civil aviation authority.
