The Indiana Senate on Thursday rejected a congressional redistricting plan backed by President Donald Trump that would have given Republicans an advantage in all nine of the state’s House districts.
Despite a steep 40-10 GOP tilt, the partisan map failed 19-31.
The vote is a setback for Trump’s nationwide push to give the GOP an edge in next year’s midterm elections and bolster the party’s odds of keeping control of the House, where it holds a narrow 220-213 majority.
