House Starts to Consider a Longer Stopgap
House lawmakers are acknowledging the Nov. 21 stopgap they passed last month won’t be sufficient to pave the way toward a long-term funding deal, but they haven’t settled on how long the new funding patch should be.
House Republicans aren’t keen on voting for a continuing resolution running through the Christmas holiday in December — despite writing the November stopgap to run through right before Thanksgiving — and some conservative hardliners are more than happy to end all discussions and pass a full-year stopgap instead.
