House GOP Proposes $1.072 Trillion Pentagon Spending Bill (1)

House Republicans are proposing a $1.072 trillion Pentagon spending bill for fiscal year 2027 as the fate of a third party-line budget bill that would boost defense spending by about $350 billion remains in doubt on Capitol Hill.

The defense appropriations panel is considering the bill behind closed doors Thursday. The full Appropriations Committee is scheduled to consider the measure June 24.

The proposal doesn’t include military construction, which also is part of the Pentagon budget. The House already approved a military construction budget of $19.2 billion for fiscal 2027.
