House Panel Keeps Mail-Order Abortion Pill Reversal Off Floor

House lawmakers declined Tuesday to allow a floor vote on language that would have blocked the mailing of the abortion pill mifepristone, sidelining a major priority for the anti-abortion movement.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) offered amendments in the House Rules Committee for an appropriations bill (H.R. 8646) that would fund the Food and Drug Administration. His amendments would have reinstituted restrictions on the abortion pill, requiring health care providers to distribute the medication in person.
