Speaker Mike Johnson’s already thin House majority will dip just before Congress’ next spending deadline, complicating Republicans’ difficult task of muscling through party-line legislation.

GOP firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is set to resign Jan. 5 after escalating disagreements with Republican House leadership and President Donald Trump. The Georgia congresswoman’s departure comes ahead of Congress’ Jan. 30 deadline to fund the government or plunge into another shutdown.
