House Democrats Issue Fundraising Invites as Shutdown Drags On

The race for campaign cash is hardly taking a break for the government shutdown.

A fundraising consultant for House Democrats sent an appeal this week to K Street donors that included events next week in Washington and later this year, as the shutdown has put heightened scrutiny on the cash-dash and led to some cancellations. But campaigns and their fundraising consultants are still under pressure to help candidates build war chests ahead of next year’s midterm races with control of the House and Senate hanging in the balance.
