Democratic Rep. Adelita Grijalva (Ariz.) said she was pepper-sprayed during an immigration raid in Tucson, Ariz., the latest episode of escalating tensions as Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducts masked raids across the country.

“I was sprayed in the face by a very aggressive agent, pushed around by others, when I literally was not being aggressive,” the congresswoman, who was elected in September and sworn in last month, said in a two-minute video posted to X. Tricia McLaughlin, Homeland Security’s assistant secretary for public affairs, denied the claims
