GOP Says No ACA Talks Until Shutdown Ends
Republicans are resisting the temptation to negotiate with Democrats on health care, and continue to insist that any compromise can’t happen until the shutdown ends.
President Donald Trump briefly opened the door to a compromise on Affordable Care Act subsidies set to expire at the end of the year, even saying “we’re talking to the Democrats” about the issue.
Trump’s off-the-cuff comments conflicted with GOP lawmakers, who have said Democrats must support a straightforward continuing resolution to end the shutdown before any negotiations can happen on health care.
