GOP Lawmakers Expect No US Troops in Venezuela, Greenland

Congressional Republicans said they don’t expect US personnel to be deployed in Venezuela after the arrest and ouster of President Nicolas Maduro, following a briefing by administration officials.

“The administration has been very clear there is no intention to have boots on the ground,” Senator Kevin Cramer of North Dakota told reporters on Wednesday.

Lawmakers also dismissed any suggestion the US would invade Greenland in order to take control of the autonomous territory led by Denmark, a key NATO ally.
