For Newsom, 2026 Invites Closer Scrutiny of His Many Promises

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is poised in a few days to finally deliver on one of his signature health care policies: a state-run program to provide low-cost insulin.

But a close look shows the results aren’t quite what the governor promised.

The project blew past Newsom’s self-imposed 2024 deadline and the drug won’t be manufactured in California, as he once pledged.
