Exiting Airline Lobbyist Reflects on Changes Since Bush Years

Nick Calio, who is in the final days on the job as the airline industry’s top lobbyist, might not depart K Street entirely.

“I am looking for opportunities to stay engaged, because that’s just my nature,” said Calio, whose perks include lifetime free first-class flights.

Calio, top liaison on Capitol Hill for Presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush and former in-house lobbyist for Citigroup Inc., spent nearly 15 years running the group, which was often at the center of attention after plane crashes and flight problems.
