Energy Bill Would Scrap Agency Rules That Threaten Electric Grid

Senate legislation unveiled Thursday seeks to ensure federal regulations reinforce the reliability of the country’s electricity grid.

The bill, obtained exclusively by Bloomberg Government, would require the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to approve agency actions related to the nation’s bulk-power system and make sure rules don’t jeopardize the grid’s stability.

The measure would allow FERC to pump the brakes on any rules it decides could threaten power distribution.
