Democrats Set to Return Cuellar to Homeland Spending Panel

House Democratic appropriators will vote on Thursday to reinstate Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), as the top Democrat on the spending panel funding the Department of Homeland Security, House Appropriations Committee ranking member Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) said.

Cuellar was indicted last year over allegations of federal bribery along with money laundering and conspiracy charges, but was pardoned by President Donald Trump last week.

Cuellar stepped down from his post on the Homeland Security appropriations subcommittee last year to abide by internal caucus rules that require committee leaders to step aside if they are indicted.
