Democrats Raise Fears Trump’s USDA Relocations Will Hurt Agency

House Democrats want to understand what calculus informed the Trump administration’s plan to relocate thousands of US Agriculture Department employees.

Lawmakers are concerned there is none. Proceeding with a plan to scatter more than half of the USDA’s Washington-area workforce will “significantly hinder” a host of services provided by a department that’s already lost 21,600 employees, about one fifth of its total workforce, since President Donald Trump took office, House Agriculture Committee Democrats wrote in a Tuesday letter made public Thursday.
