Defense Increase Expected to Win Backing in House, Reed Says

The House is likely to accept the Senate’s $32 billion funding increase for the Pentagon as part of negotiations over the fiscal 2026 defense authorization bill, the Senate Armed Services Committee’s top Democrat predicted.

Sen. Jack Reed (R.I.) told Bloomberg Government Tuesday he expects the House to endorse the funding authorization hike because it has large support in the Senate from both Republicans and Democrats.

“I think they will,” Reed said in a short interview at the Capitol.
