Congressional aides are inching closer toward union contracts in two House offices, notching a small victory for staff bargaining after a lengthy stalemate.
Staffers for Democratic Reps. Mark Pocan (Wis.) and Val Hoyle (Ore.) secured the first memorandums of understanding in Congress, the Congressional Workers Union announced Wednesday. The agreements represent a first step toward full contracts for Hill offices and will secure salary increases for staffers in both offices.
